Experience Matters!

Here's the text of a recent e-mail I sent to delegates in advance of the C.A.R. meeting.

REALTORS® know how to work together, yet REALTORS® also are an independent lot.

Ask 100 REALTORS® to come up with a list of just five issues and I’m certain, after a little discussion, there would be virtually unanimous agreement on three out of the five. The fourth and fifth issues each might garner 80, 90 or even 100 different answers.

To be effective, C.A.R. leadership needs to move quickly, concisely, forcefully on the short list of current concerns and sometimes take action simultaneously on the longer list of 100, including issues looming on the horizon.

More than ever before, this is a time when REALTORS® need an experienced veteran at the helm of C.A.R., someone whose depth of experience and knowledge – in real estate, in the association and in daily life – provide a foundation for the right answer, an answer which often must come on the spur of the moment. Someone who understands the media, who understands the way C.A.R. arrives at a consensus and someone who can articulate the issues.

Since launching my career over three decades ago, I have served in virtually every capacity on multiple boards and committees at our local, state and national professional associations. Go to www.TC2012.com for my current resume.

Yes, short sales, foreclosures, statewide MLS and HVCC are the issues of the day, but I want your input on what you believe the issues will be in two or three years. This has been my focus, having served as Vice-Chair and a current member of C.A.R.’s Strategic Planning and Finance Committee.

Visit www.TC2012.com to offer your thoughts on the issues facing real estate and to gain insight into why I want to be C.A.R.’s 2011 President-Elect. If you’re willing, please write a testimonial stating why you think I am the right candidate at the right time.

With your support and participation, we will guide real estate into a brilliant new world. I am ready to serve as your 2011 C.A.R. President-Elect and 2012 President.

Experience Matters!

Sincerely.

Tom Carnahan GRI, CRS, CDRA
